We’re not the biggest fans of Christmas tunes — they tend to surge to the extremes of being too, too somber, or too aggressively “merry.” That said, we do lament the lack of a more robust caroling scene in Manhattan.

The definitive, Harry Simoeone Chorale version of “The Little Drummer Boy” is our favorite every year; and if there is a better pop choice than the Eagles’ cover of Charles Brown’s “Please Come Home for Christmas” we’d like to hear it (seriously: post your suggestion!). Neither too deadly serious nor too sappy sweet.

If you didn’t get anything good this year, pa rum pum pum pum, and stop being so naughty. Now we’re going to try to find some of those cookies shaped like stars, or trees, with sprinkles on them. Merry Christmas. ♦
